The China Machinery Industry Federation organized a scientific and technological achievement appraisal meeting in Beijing for the "Large Diameter High-Performance Hot Pressed Sintered Engineering Ceramic Materials and Products" jointly completed by the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, Tsinghua University and the 14th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. The appraisal meeting was attended by experts including Mr. Song Tianhu, the Supervisory Chairman/Researcher of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Professor Zhang Lingtong from Northwestern Polytechnical University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Sha BaoSen, the Honorary Chairman of the China Hydraulic Pneumatic Seal Industry Association and Researcher, Academician Wang Yuming from Tsinghua University, and a total of fifteen experts.
After questioning and discussion by the appraisal committee, the committee concluded that: This achievement is the first to apply carbon nanotube reinforcement and toughening technology to the manufacturing of hot pressed sintered silicon carbide ceramics, overcoming key technologies such as material formulation and variable pressure and temperature sintering for high-performance, high-reliability silicon carbide ceramic seals, significantly enhancing the overall performance of the products. The "Large Diameter High-Performance Hot Pressed Sintered Silicon Carbide Seal Ring" is the first domestically developed 500mm class large-sized hot pressed sintered silicon carbide ceramic product, meeting the urgent needs of certain important projects and having a good prospect for promotion. At the same time, the meeting also believed that the overall technology of the project results has reached an internationally advanced level.
